Forum description for new web visitors.

This is really just a casual easy going modeling tutorial forum for Caligari Truespace 3D modeling software. It features how to use TS to make 3D models with the software itself. You'll also find downloable files in the form of file attachments to some posts as well a some free 3D models uploaded by forum members. In addition to the main forum it has several sub forums for other Caligari modeling software like Caligari Gamespace 3D. We also have forums for Battlezone II Combat Commander, VRML modeling, and Unreal Tournament modeling plugins for Truespace. The original forum is about a year old now but is still actively maintained by my self as a general teaching aid to other people interested in 3D modleing in general. I welcome you all and encourage interested people to join the forum and share with others what you like about the art of creating things in three dimentional art forms.

The forum is under going constant changes to make it more fun and useful for forum members and web users who happen to stumble across us on the Internet. We also have a Live Chat feature for members wanting to yap with one another if their so inclined. Have fun and enjoy yourself folks. BNG123.

Download the Free Gamespace Light Demo Installer.

This forum was resurrected in honor of Caligari's popular Gamespace and the Gamespace demo version known as GSL. Functionally, both are very similar to other versions of Caligari Truespace 3D modeling software, so many of the tutorials for Truespace can be applied to Gamespace and the demo version known as Gamespace Lite which lacks the exporters of the full version of Gamespace. Both are very easy to use and quite interesting examples of simple to learn 3D modeling software.

This group of 7 folders contains the entire program. It has some limitations when compared to the full version of Gamespace, but is still an excellent choice as far as free modeling software is concerned. The following serial number is required to install GSL> 1157845120831.

Download the group of folders, extract the contents of each folder to a single new folder so that the extracted contents of each folder are all together and run the BAT file to merge all the files back in to the GSL installer. Then you can run that file to install GSL on to your system.

PS: If you need information on how to use Gamespace feel free to post questions and I will help you get started making 3D models with the software.

Caligari Gamespace Lite is a simplified version of Truespace and is an excellent primer for getting used to how Truespace 7.61 Beta 8 works on the Truespace 6 portion of the software. Use Gamespace until you feel comfortable and then when you are ready to graduate to Truespace the transition will be much easier. Best wishes, BNG123.

The software is pretty ease to use with a little hands on practice. Most modeling tasks are as easy as clicking on the pretty little icons in the modeling workspace. Some of the menu bars may not be fully visible when you first run Gamespace, but this is by design to keep the workspace clean and uncluttered. The menu bars can be expanded by clicking on the left side of each bar. Left clicking will expand the bar to show more icons. If you want to minimize the bar left click it again and it'll change to a tiny gray square. Each click will toggle and expand the bar. The startup prefers can be saved by clicking File>Preferences and in the dialog box Xing the Save State box. This will save your user preferences each time Gamespace opens.

If you've downloaded and installed the software spend some time playing around with the modeling tools in GSL. A good place to start is to load a simple premade primitive from the icons that represent them. Left click one of the icons and then left click in the workspace to place the object then right click to exit the placement tool. If you want to edit the object you just place then right click the object to enter in to the edit mode. A new panel will pop up alowing you to modify the selected object. By default you can select individual faces, edges and vertices by left clicking items when they highlite under your mouse cursor. To select multiple items press the Ctrl key and left click addition items on the object. Each will highlite as you select them. The bounding box surrounding selected items will enable you to move, resize, and rotate selected items by left click holding and dragging them along the bounding box itself. If you look at the pop up menu many things can be done to modify the object far too many to explain in a single post, but with some experimentation you'll learn which tools fit your personal editing needs. You can also left left click and hold the corner areas of the bounding box to uniformly scale selected items on the object. PS: you can also use the bounding box outside of the editor in the same way as it is always visible when an object is selected. Just remember to left click hold the specific area of the box to do things like move, scale and resize the object. Typically, the corner and smaller area of the bounding box are for scaling and resizing. The larger inner area is for moving the object itself. The exception to this rule is noticable in the edit mode and the center area is used to rescale the select faces and other selected items on the object.

Have fun and post any questions you may encounter and I'll try to post a reply as time allows.

You'll probably also want to save your personal preferences so that the next time you run GSL it will automatically load. This can be done by clicking File>Preferences an Xing the following boxes>Save State, Auto Save, and Auto load. The first remembers what tool panels were open, the second saves the last scene you were working on and the third loads the last scene you were working on.

This group of files contains the help files for Gamespace and the Light version. Place the help file in your Gamespace directory. Some topics are not included tin the Light version of GS Light. Use it as a learning guide.
