It's been quite a long time since I made any models or props for Combat Commander, but I understand some people are still producing game models for BZII. I am aware of Studio Max, GMAX, and Blender, but I was wondering if other software is actually being used by BZII modders to get models into the game. I used to use Caligari old Gamespace and Truespace and another title called Anim8or, but I never really found other modeling software that was easy enough to use to make any real models for BZII. I could use some feedback on what to try as an alternate to the titles listed in this post. Thanks, Leroy.

Zbrus is a powerful modeling tool for preparing better textures for the original model, by creating a high poly clone. If I recall correctly, its demo is named Sculptris.
But it can help only for refining the textures or for creating some static objects. And the known most used programs for animating the models are commercial.

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately, BZII doesn't really support high polygon models. However, I understand that Sculptris is a fine choice for other applications. I really appreciate folks that take the time to actually post. Thanks, K. Leroy.

XSI Mod Tool 6.0 - 7.5 is also an option. It is a free truncated copy of The Autodesk Softimage. It is not completely free for game development, but you may have a look. Just find a link for downloading, because the Owner doesn't support it any more :)

Thanks for posting. I have both the 6 and 7.5 installers. I prefer XSI Mod Tool over GMAX and have used them with the X model exporter to make a few models for BZII Combat Commander by converting the X models to XSI via 3D Exploration 1.5. I just wish the Mod Tool could export the older XSI format that BZII uses. Do you know how to use the Mod Tool scriptor? Maybe a version 1 importer or exporter script could be written to make the Mod Tool more useful for BZII. Leroy.

Maybe in the beginning of the new year, if other tool / script is not presented during this time.

Sadly, Autodesk killed Softimage leaving quite a few people very bummed out. Leroy.
