As you can see in the image grab I have customized the model tab of TS 7.61 to make the work area quite open. I like most modders I only use a few of the modeling tools to create my models and props for BZ2. It keeps the view area clean and uncluttered.

TS, by default loads all of the modeling tools but it tends to clutter up the 3d work area, but TS allows the modder to create custom toolbars to make commonly used modeling tools in small manageable icon groups. The rectangle on the right is the TS scene editor showing the model and it's parts in a simple layout. Objects is a typical model are grouped by drag and drop; left click drag to where they belong in a BZ2 model.

TS, has several tools for grouping parts as well as separating groups. There are also tools for reducing groups to a single object; this is particularly useful for simplifying a complex multi-part model such aas an aircraft which can have many parts like body, wings, engines, etc.
