Thanks Jim and welcome to the GSL forum. Are you the modeler that used to post on the old Caligari website? I'll check out the model later on after I've gotten a bit of snooze time. I work the overnite shift at a local TV station. I'm certainly glad that few people still make stuff with GSL; it's got to be my favorite 3d modelers of all time. It a shame that Caligari went under and sadly closed it's old forum. I don't find any GSL forums anywhere and felt the need to keep GSL alive by providing a place for others to post and share stuff. I still have the GSL installer available but sadly there's not much of a demand for it lately. PS: Have a good one and if possible let other GSL modelers know we all have a new place to swap GSL tips and tricks. :D

Very cool model aircraft Jim. Would you mind if I adapt it for use with a video game that I mod for; it's called Battlezone II, Combat Commander. I've made quite a few older models from the 2nd World War. A couple of simple Biplanes and quite a few Jet Aircraft. The models basically need to be exported as X models and converted to XSI after adding a few extra parts that the BZII game engine needs to make the craft pilotable. I've got tons of different of GSL models like cars, trucks, armored tanks, and heavy assault tanks. The game uses a wide array of combat vehicles, environment props, buildings, and organic models like trees, bushes, etc.

Say, if possible could you at some point post a tutorial on doing animations in GSL. I understand the basics of it but I'm having some difficulty working with IK stuff and boned models like Mech Walkers and movable human figures. Thanks Leroy aka BNG.

GSL Model Photo Gallery.

Postby BNG123 » July 7th, 2010, 5:12 am

I made this Savenger for Battlezone II. I used a stock GSL texture called Steel Panel to decorate the body. On the wheels, I create a custom texture created from a screen grab out of GSL.

This image shows various aircraft made with GSL. Most were created for Battlezone II. I think of all the model types that I make I truly love making aircraft types. GSL, is ideally suited to non professional modeling hobbists. Simply put GameSpace Lite rocks for simple low poly models.

GirlTris Rigged

Postby JimB » July 8th, 2010, 12:43 am

Here is a little lowpoly experiment I did some time ago,it is only 340 faces and is rigged, the rig was done with Puppeteer which I think is still available from Greg Basset (http://alabsoft.com/bkp/ ) .
Puppeteer is a tsx and so cannot work with GSLite but however does work with TS7.6 model side or did the last time I checked. :mrgreen:ImageImage

Awesome model Jim. I just wish I could get my hands on Gamespace full. I have to use TS to get higher poly models done.

Did you use any shader effects on the texture? I've been learning to use them to enhance textures to get more realistic effects. I really need to do some work on my texturing skills. Simple textures are fairly easy, but working with UV maps I need way more practice with.

Re: m1911 gun

Postby BNG123 » July 8th, 2010, 4:50 am

That reminds me of the 45 I used carry as a Tanker in the U.S. Army back in the early 1080's. I agree GS rocks for making all types of weapons. I've made a couple of assault guns for BZII. I love to use the object union and subtraction tools to make cool guns. The subtraction tool is very handy for mating ammo clips into the weapon body. The array tool is perfect for making ammo belt clips too. ;)

Kudos Jim for posting so many cool models. If it's okay with you may I use this model for Battlezone II? I could use it as a building prop for the game.

I've playing around with multiple textures with some success. Do you know if GS uses texture blending on the resulting procmats that export with the model?
